Fresh Starts and Bold Visions: Kicking Off the New Tax Year

Published on 1 April 2026 at 00:01

As the calendar flips to a new tax year, it feels like the perfect moment to press the reset button. There is something about this season—clean ledgers and fresh perspectives—that makes me want to look back at how far I’ve come and set a steady course for the months ahead.

Reflecting on a Milestone Year

Looking back at the past twelve months, I feel incredibly lucky to have taken my first steps into the professional art world. I’ve been fortunate enough to take part in four virtual exhibitions, which was an incredible way to start sharing my vision with a wider audience. While I’ve been focusing heavily on developing my craft behind the scenes, I am now looking forward to the next big step: finally finding the right "forever homes" for my original pieces as I begin to offer them for sale.

Breaking New Ground: Magazine Features and Physical Galleries

I’m hitting the ground running this April with some massive "firsts." I am thrilled to share that I’ll be kicking off the year with a feature in a magazine and—most excitingly—my very first physical exhibition! After a year of digital showcases, the prospect of seeing my work hanging on actual gallery walls and connecting with you all in person is a dream come true.

I’ve also been pushing myself to enter prestigious spaces this year. I am so proud to share that I have entered the VAA Artist of the Year and the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year competitions. Being part of these conversations alongside so many talented artists is a huge milestone for me.

The Heart of My Work: Why Commissions Come First

While I absolutely love the freedom of creating original art, entering competitions, and the thrill of preparing for my first physical gallery show, I want to be clear about my focus: Commissions will always be my priority.

There is a unique magic in working on a commission. Whether it’s a personal portrait or a bespoke gift, I am entrusted with your memories and visions. That collaborative process—taking your idea and breathing life into it through my style—is the backbone of my practice. While I’ll continue to produce original work for galleries, magazines, and competitions, my schedule will always be anchored by the custom pieces I create specifically for you.

Goals for the Year Ahead

My mission for this tax year is simple:

• Growth: To successfully transition from virtual spaces to my first physical gallery show.

• Ambition: To continue putting my work forward for major awards like VAA and David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year.

• Connection: To find the perfect homes for my original collection and continue providing a bespoke experience for my commission clients.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve followed my virtual shows or are thinking about your first custom piece, you are the reason I get to do what I love. Let’s make this year the most creative one yet!
